Igniting the spark

Why should Children start writing at an early age?

When it comes to development at early stages for kids, we all want to provide the best opportunities for our children to grow, develop and succeed. With that, we also want them to acquire multiple skillsets and grow during their journey of learning commitment, resilience, determination, communication, and writing.

Children grow through multiple stages during their early years, starting from scribbling and drawing. As a parent, our motive for them is to learn as much as they can while their creative mind is still oozing out with tremendous ideas, bizarre stories, and creativity.

But why should children start writing at an early age?

Kids are full of curiosity to learn and experiment with all kinds of scenarios. Writing does not only mean learning the language for basic communication and academic purposes but it must insight the kid to pour out their heart on a piece of paper that might even turn out to be magical.

I remember as a kid, I used to write multiple stories including a kid flying away in the clouds, a superhero kid who saves his sister, and many more. When we are young, we have no boundaries that separate the fables from the real world, therefore our horizons expand in multiple ways, providing us the opportunity to learn on our own. During the developmental stages, it is important for the kids to know their skills, which later turn out to help them academically as well as professionally during their careers down the line.

As writing is a crucial part of our lives, isn’t it better to have imbibed the skills at the beginning to overcome hurdles in the later stages of life? Kids develop a keen interest in things they see around them and pick up hobbies they like while growing up. Many of these kids go on to achieve greater goals in their lives and become renowned authors, and bless the world with their incredible and amusing stories.

How to promote writing in children?

Despite understanding the importance of writing, the big question remains, as to how to develop writing hobbies in children at an early age. Well, that question has a simple answer we might already know. It is crucial that we remember to encourage kids with whatever they bring to the table, promote their out-of-the-box ideas, help them correct mistakes and learn from them. Writing also develops discipline, regularity, and concentration and boosts the confidence of the child. Learning from other books, reading, and watching gets engraved in the brain of the child helping them to be persistent and confident.

Being a tool for an excellent form of creativity and imagination:

When our kids sit down to pour out their ideas on paper, they think about several things. What do they want to write about, what message will their writing convey, and what style do they want to carry out, before they even start to write? This not only encourages them to research, and think logically but also enhances critical thinking and excellent problem-solving skills.

Do you remember the first story you might have written when you were a child? Probably yes, because that piece remains closest to our hearts, improving our memory retention skills. The same happens when kids sit to pen down their ideas.
